FSI was honored to welcome Sergeant First Class (SFC) Cory Remsburg, U.S. Army Ranger, and his father, Craig, to share their story with our team.
Their visit left a lasting impression, reminding us of the sacrifices made by our service members and the strength of the human spirit.
A Life of Service
Cory grew up in St. Louis and joined the Army on his 18th birthday, fulfilling his dream of becoming a U.S. Army Ranger with the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. Dedicated and driven, Cory went on to serve ten deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
On October 1, 2009, during his tenth deployment in Afghanistan, Cory’s life was forever changed when an improvised explosive device (IED) struck his unit. The blast left him critically injured, with a penetrating head wound that put him into a coma for more than three months.

A Journey of Perseverance
Against extraordinary odds, Cory survived. With the support of his fellow Rangers, his family, and his medical teams, he began a long and grueling recovery. He has endured dozens of surgeries and years of rehabilitation, but his determination never wavered.
“Don’t ever tell a Ranger that he can’t do something.”
That mindset has guided him through every stage of his journey. From competing in the Valor Games and the DoD Warrior Games, where he earned six medals, to working toward greater independence every day, Cory continues to inspire with his resilience and grit.
A Lasting Impact
Cory’s story is not only one of personal strength but also a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve. His journey demonstrates the importance of community, family, and organizations dedicated to supporting veterans. With the help of Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors and the Army Ranger Lead the Way Fund, Cory now has a fully accessible home that allows him to focus on his recovery and live more independently.
FSI’s Commitment to Veterans
At FSI, we are proud to support the JCS and stand with veterans like Cory who continue to lead the way both in service and in life. His visit was a powerful reminder of why supporting our nation’s heroes matters. Cory’s perseverance and strength challenge us all to approach our own lives with greater courage and determination.
We are grateful to Cory and Craig for sharing their story with us and for inspiring everyone at FSI. Please join us in keeping the Remsburg family in your thoughts as we honor Cory’s remarkable service, sacrifice, and ongoing journey.
