Transportation

Transportation industry foams found in seating, armrests and headrests in transportation applications must ensure passenger comfort and safety for years of repeated heavy use. FSI provides flexible molded foamsslabstock foams and integral skin polyurethane systems for the production of transportation components including:

  • Bus seats and armrests
  • Airplane armrests
  • Engine covers
Flexible, slabstock, & integral skin foam for transportation transportation industry foam

Lightweight, durable transportation foam

Ecoflex® and Genflex™ molded, slabstock and integral skin polyurethane foam systems are customizable to the ILD, ball rebound and durometer properties required by your specific application.

Our flexible foams feature densities as low as 2.5 pcf (the lowest in the industry), reducing component densities up to 30% and contributing to decreased fuel consumption.

Durable and abrasion-resistant flexible foam components withstand a lifetime of regular use in bus, train and airplane cabin interiors.

Products made with Ecoflex® and Genflex™ foams meet or exceed FMVSS 302 and CAL 117 flammability testing benchmarks, assuring passenger fire safety.

Ecoflex® and Genflex™ foam can be customized to meet a wide range of NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) characteristics for functional, supportive transportation components.

Ecoflex integral skin foam systems are engineered to achieve ideal part characteristics without subsurface bubbles or voids that compromise end-use. Non-emissive catalysts and surfactants can be added to prevent odor and fogging.

Integral skin products can enhance aesthetics and brand image when formulated to include multiple color options and UV stabilizers.

Ecoflex® systems are blown with zero-GWP Ecomate® blowing agent. Genflex™ flexible molded and slabstock foams are blown with water, which converts to carbon dioxide during foaming as the blowing agent and is also considered a zero-GWP formulation. Both Ecoflex® and Genflex™ systems meet the most stringent environmental regulations, including California SB1013. They do not require Prop 65 labeling.

Foam systems blown with Ecomate® technology offer easy transition from HFC systems compared to other fourth-generation blowing agents. No permits or explosion proofing is required before transitioning to Ecomate®-blown foam products.

FSI’s global production and distribution network offers flexible delivery in totes, drums, pressurized cylinders or in bulk according to your needs.
