Resichem’s Transition to Eco-friendly Polyurethane Foam
Resichem Commits To Exclusive Use Of Environmentally Safe Polyurethane Foam Blowing Agent Ahead Of New Regulation
SUMMARY: Resichem, the leading South African provider of polyurethane foam systems, is eliminating HCFC-141b blowing agent from its products in advance of the upcoming ban effective January 1, 2016. Resichem will now dramatically increase its use of ecomate® blowing agent from Foam Supplies, Inc., which has no environmental impact.
Resichem’s Green Commitment Ahead of Regulation
Resichem, a prominent South African polyurethane foam systems provider, is proactively phasing out the HCFC-141b blowing agent from its products, ahead of the impending ban set for January 1, 2016. In its place, the company will significantly ramp up its usage of the environmentally neutral Ecomate® blowing agent from FSI.
Strategic Partnership with FSI
Situated in Johannesburg, South Africa, Resichem has unveiled an expanded collaboration with FSI. This move will see a substantial increase in the adoption of FSI’s eco-friendly polyurethane foam blowing agent, Ecomate®. Over the past few years, Resichem has been gradually shifting towards Ecomate®. This decision aligns with the South Africa Hydrochlorofluorocarbons Phase-out Management Plan, which will be in force from January 1, 2016. FSI was a natural choice of partner as they have been dedicated to finding foam solutions that are safe for our planet for over 50 years.
Pioneering Eco-friendly Foam in South Africa
Resichem has consistently partnered with global frontrunners like FSI to introduce cutting-edge polyurethane foam systems and application methodologies to the South African audience. Notably, in 2007, Resichem pioneered the commercial introduction of FSI’s green Ecomate® in sub-Saharan Africa. By completely phasing out the HCFC-141b blowing agent and adopting Ecomate®, Resichem is poised to assist manufacturers in producing environmentally responsible products.
Ecomate®: The Future of Foam Blowing Agents
Launched in the US in 2002, Ecomate® emerged as a revolutionary next generation foam blowing agent, devoid of the environmental drawbacks associated with other agents like CFCs, HCFCs, and HFCs. With a global patent secured in 2002, Ecomate® is now globally recognized and utilized across various sectors to manufacture diverse types of polyurethane foam, including rigid, spray, flexible, and integral skin.
Resichem’s Comprehensive Offerings
Operating from self-sustained distribution hubs located in Gauteng (main office), KwaZulu Natal, Eastern Cape, and Western Cape, Resichem delivers both rigid and flexible polyurethane systems. These systems, inclusive of the Ecomate® blowing agent, are all developed in house with the back up of experienced technical personnel and a fully serviced analytical and physical testing laboratory.
